Manufacturing from start to finish

Molten metal is poured into cupolas from one of many 5 tonne electric furnaces.

The molten metal is poured into the mould.

After the disc is cast it is moved to the computerised Lathe (CNC) for turning.

Thousands of discs are manufactured each day.

Special lifting gear is used due to the weight of each item being machined.

All CNC machines are fully automatic and work from a computer programme, ensuring exact machining tolerances are followed time after time.

After the disc is turned, it is passed to the vertical CNC drilling machine for the mounting holes to be drilled.

Soft jaw CNC machines are used to ensure that each drum is manufactured to strict tolerances, ensuring concentricity is not compromised.

Each disc manufactured is placed on the automatic balancing machine to ensure trueness.

Each drum manufactured is also balanced to ensure the best possible performance.

Once machined and balanced the discs are passed along the automated cleaning line.

Here the discs are prepared for final protective coating and packaging.

Each batch of discs or drums produced are analysed in the on-site laboratory.
