Brake Drums

Exact casting process produces a drum with equal wall thickness giving even brake stress distribution and providing uniform thermal expansion to minimise brake judder and vibration.

JURATEK brake drums are produced to exacting standards of both dimensional integrity and material specification.

Some references are machined both internally and externally to achieve an exact balance without the need for cut-outs, reducing drum wall temperature fluctuation to alleviate cracking.

The following illustrations show correct and incorrect drum storage. Incorrect storage may lead to damage not covered under warranty.

Correct storage of drums

See image to the right. Drums should be stacked as shown to ensure even distribution of weight on the side walls avoiding distortion of the walls, or damage to the braking surface.

Incorrect storage of drums

"Nesting" one drum inside another or resting them on their sides may result in the ovality or the drum and premature failure.
